It's been awhile since I blogged on my author experience. So I thought I would give you an update.
The last few weeks have felt like a whirlwind. I have been so busy trying to prepare for my book release. But even though I've wanted to pull my hair out b/c of everything I'm trying to do, I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. I love being the captain of my ship. I view this whole author thing as my business. I joked before about building my empire, but I will say it again. No matter how big or small my empire ends up being it's mine to take ownership of. I'm not going to lie, I have BIG dreams when it comes to writing. Will my efforts pay off? Time will tell, but I love giving everything that I have in learning about the process. It really is trial and error at this point. But I'm having a blast! And there is no better feeling than giving 100% of myself to myself!
Ok. So, I have been working hard trying to establish and maintain an online presence. And I'm really pleased with my results. To date I have over 400 twitter followers. And I did it all organically. I don't auto follow and I refuse to pay for followers. It's been fun engaging with and talking with so many different people. Facebook is growing although not as quickly as twitter. I find I like the twitter platform more than Facebook and devote more time and effort there.
I am super pleased that my book is available for preorder on Amazon. Again, it's my preference, but I think having your book available for preorder is essential to the process. I think it helps build up anticipation. I'm ecstatic to say that I am getting preorder sales. I track my ranking religiously on Amazon. The only bad thing is I have no idea how many books I'm selling. But, it's a great tool to use to gauge my promotion efforts in relation to my Amazon rankings. On my publisher's website Loose Id, my book is visible for viewers to see, although you can't preorder yet on their website. But it does announce that it will be available soon. Loose Id has the first chapter available to read and you can also download the first chapter and most of the second chapter. I'm also really happy to say that my book has been trending on my publisher's website almost all day today. Again, this may not seem like a big deal, but I'm the only book that isn't available for purchase right now that is trending.
So 10 more days (counting today) till my book is officially available! Ten more days of pre release promotion. Then, I'll be starting my blog tour April 12th, kicking it off first with my radio/podcast interview on April 11th. But I'll tell you more about that next post!
