I think I could be a casting director!

5/11/2016

I got to thinking about how much fun it would be if I was casting the leads in my novel, His Wolf's Desire! Well guess what? That's exactly what I'm going to do.

So let me preface my big movie reveal by saying Brad and Jayla (my hero and heroine) literally popped into my head one day. There's a scene where they're arguing over the speaker phones in their offices at work. That's how they were introduced to me. Brad was the brawny, intense, mammoth of a mon frustrated out of his mind. Where Jayla was this sassy, spirited, confident woman arguing her ass off.

So, that's how Brad and Jayla came to be. Two adversaries, bound together by mutual loathing and dislike for one another. Their disdain is a staple of their relationship initially. There is definitely a thin line between love and hate where these two are involved.

So fast forward to one day I was online and I stumbled across a picture of a professional body builder named Zeke Samples. If you don't know who he is, please look him up. Now, I know next to nothing about him except that he's a model and a body builder. When I imagine what Brad Dalton looks like, his image is the closest I've found to what I conjured in my mind. When I think of the embodiment of Brad's look... It is Mr. Zeke Samples. Intense, intimidating and chiseled as all get out. Oh that face just does me in... Yummy.

The actress which is physically the embodiment of Jayla, is Nia Long. I LOVE her. And I love the sassiness which comes across in the characters she plays. Nia would be the perfect Jayla Stanton. And I just think she's gorgeous. But at the same time she has a girl next door look to her. Down to earth, real and confidence is what I see when I look at Nia. She's all the things Jayla is.

So when you read my book, enjoy my Brad aka Zeke Samples and Jayla aka Nia Long... You are so very welcome!!!

Interview with Eve Vaughn!!!!

4/17/2016

So remember that upcoming author interview I bragged about on March 22, 2016. Well that author that I was referring to is NYT and USA Today Bestselling AuthorEve Vaughn.

I have been an Eve Vaughn fan forever! And I am thrilled to have had the chance to do a Q&A session with her.  I have more Eve Vaughn books than I dare admit to.  Her book was the very first romance book that I saw with an interracial couple on the cover. I remember being excited to actually see a cover which reflected diversity and had a heroine that had my skin tone.

I always try to not get to deep with this topic, trust me this will be an in-depth post another day. But as a fan of all types of romance novels it was refreshing to see some diversity! And then when I read her book, the magic spell was completed. The book was as enticing on the inside as it was on the outside.

So here is the link to my website where I have posted my Eve Vaughn interview.

And once again I have to thank Eve for being so gracious and just downright awesome!

Eve Vaughn's new book Jilted is available on Amazon.

Bewitching Blog Radio Interview!!!!

I had my interview with the oh so sweet Gayle Ross last night. And I have to tell you, I was soooooo nervous lol! I've never been interviewed before. And if you're wondering, yes I've had jobs before. I've had job interviews but this interview was different.

Gayle was amazing. Before the interview we had a few moments and she chatted me up trying to help settle my nerves.

So here's where my inter dork is on display. I was super excited to give a shout out and personal thank you to two amazing women that have I met. I'm going to do this in reverse order. The second person I gave a shout out to was Roxanne D. Howard author of At The Heart Of The Stone. Her book is available now on both Amazon and Loose Id. Roxanne has been such a sweetheart and I'm proud to call her my friend. So shout out to you girlfriend!

The first person I attempted to give a shout out to was Erica Lynn. Erica and I instantly gravitated to one another as newbie authors, We are constantly #Twinning and use the joke way too much. (Or maybe I do) But for us, it never gets old.!

Anyway, I completely botched the name of her book. Yes, it is the same Erica Lynn I interviewed on my blog. Yes, it is the same Erica Lynn that I reviewed her book. And yes, it is the same book which I posted my review for.

I was n-e-r-v-o-u-s okay!!!!

All joking aside, I feel terrible. So I want to take this opportunity to say that Erica Lynn's book Her Husband's Brother is available to purchase on both Amazon and Loose Id.
(During the interview I accidently said Her Brother's Husband. Gah! TOTALLY different book dynamic there. Although maybe I've given her an idea for her next book!)

So here is my first (and probably last lol) interview with Gayle Ross on

Why I write sex scenes...

4/8/2016

I love romance. I love romantic movies. I love romantic books. I love creating romantic stories. I am an adult. I'm not a pervert, I'm not writing about inappropriate things, and I'm not advocating indecency.

So let me break it down for you. Those R rated movies that are acceptable to go and watch, you know, the same ones that have sex scenes in them. Yah those. A writer, writes those scenes and then the actors, act them out. Now just because you don't see the word "penis" or "sex" or "vagina" or *gasp* "cock", you understand exactly what the character is touching, or kissing or rubbing. I find it laughable that there is a stigma around being a romance/erotica writer. Why? What's the difference between watching an R rated sex scene or reading about one? Why isn't a movie director or actor given the "turn my nose up at what you do" treatment?

When you go to a movie, you go to watch the story. The action, the suspense, the violence, the heart warming moments, the shocking moments, the love scenes, the fight scenes and the conclusion. If you choose to only focus on the sex scenes, I feel sorry for you. I simply take a PG-13 story and make it rated R. What's the difference of watching an R rated movie that is rated that way because of the sexual content and reading an erotica book, which has sexual content.

I'm proud of what I write. I'm proud of my story arcs, I'm proud of my characters, I'm proud of their journey. And yah, I'm proud of the sex scenes I've written.

So it's okay for you to go watch a movie that has sex scenes and have no problem with it? But I can't write a book that has sex scenes in it?

I don't understand the logic in that. But what do I know, I write sex scenes....

Been awhile since I updated my progress...

4/3/2016

It's been awhile since I blogged on my author experience. So I thought I would give you an update.

The last few weeks have felt like a whirlwind. I have been so busy trying to prepare for my book release. But even though I've wanted to pull my hair out b/c of everything I'm trying to do, I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. I love being the captain of my ship. I view this whole author thing as my business. I joked before about building my empire, but I will say it again. No matter how big or small my empire ends up being it's mine to take ownership of. I'm not going to lie, I have BIG dreams when it comes to writing. Will my efforts pay off? Time will tell, but I love giving everything that I have in learning about the process. It really is trial and error at this point. But I'm having a blast! And there is no better feeling than giving 100% of myself to myself!

Ok. So,  I have been working hard trying to establish and maintain an online presence. And I'm really pleased with my results. To date I have over 400 twitter followers. And I did it all organically. I don't auto follow and I refuse to pay for followers. It's been fun engaging with and talking with so many different people. Facebook is growing although not as quickly as twitter. I find I like the twitter platform more than Facebook and devote more time and effort there.

I am super pleased that my book is available for preorder on Amazon. Again, it's my preference, but I think having your book available for preorder is essential to the process. I think it helps build up anticipation. I'm ecstatic to say that I am getting preorder sales. I track my ranking religiously on Amazon. The only bad thing is I have no idea how many books I'm selling. But, it's a great tool to use to gauge my promotion efforts in relation to my Amazon rankings. On my publisher's website Loose Id, my book is visible for viewers to see, although you can't preorder yet on their website. But it does announce that it will be available soon. Loose Id has the first chapter available to read and you can also download the first chapter and most of the second chapter. I'm also really happy to say that my book has been trending on my publisher's website almost all day today. Again, this may not seem like a big deal, but I'm the only book that isn't available for purchase right now that is trending.

So 10 more days (counting today) till my book is officially available! Ten more days of pre release promotion. Then, I'll be starting my blog tour April 12th, kicking it off first with my radio/podcast interview on April 11th. But I'll tell you more about that next post!

His Wolf's Desire is available for preorder on Amazon!!!!

All I can say is WOW!!! His Wolf's Desire  is available right now for preorder at Amazon. The cover hasn't been uploaded yet, but it will be very soon! My cover art is finished and I cannot wait to share it with ya'll.  I am so excited. In the mean time I thought I'd share the blurb for my book.  Get ready for Brad and Jayla!!!!

Bradford Dalton and Jayla Stanton are both shifters. Each has their own reason for not wanting to be in a relationship with their own kind. Suddenly finding out that they are mates is a shock to both of them. There’s no way in hell these work enemies will ever be together.

Brad and Jayla are desperate to find a way to coexist with their shifter sides. They just have to contend with the fact they have sexual chemistry that is off the charts. Jayla can turn his body to steel with just a smoldering look. Brad can make Jayla quiver in anticipation with just one touch. You won’t hear either one of them complaining about succumbing to their insatiable need for the other. Sure they can have hot sex which knocks them on their ass, but that doesn’t mean they’ll ever fall for the other. Right?

So there you go.... first peak at His Wolf's Desire. Cover art and excerpt will be posted very soon on my website shannonnydia.com.

Working on my next author interview... OMG!!!!

Sooooo... I reached out to one of my favorite authors and she has agreed to do an interview. I am beyond freaking out!!!! I'm in the process of making this happen and I still can't believe it.  Ahhhhhhh! So stay tuned for that. I think I'm almost as excited about the interview as I am about my book coming out on April 12th!

Update on my upcoming novel His Wolf's Desire ... things are rolling along. And I have to give a huge shout out to my team at Loose Id. And in case you're wondering, no, I do not have an actual team. But since I am so new to all of this, I have kept them on their A game with my constant questions and need for clarification. So when I say team, what I really mean is... it takes a village to raise a new author. And without their hard work I wouldn't be able to put in place my plans for my book. So thank you Loose Id Publishing. You guys are the best!!!

And, I have another author on my interview wish list. Kele Moon. Her new book The Enforcer is out now. You can find it on amazon here The Enforcer (Untamed Hearts Book 3)
I am currently stalking her on twitter. And you should too, not stalk though. Follow. You should follow her on twitter. And I have added her book to my wish list. Can't wait to read it.

The countdown is on...

I am counting down the days till my book His Wolf's Desire is released on Loose Id Publishing. I have completed my final edits and my book is now in the hands of my publisher as they get it ready for the release. The final step of the process for me anyway is seeing what my cover artist is going to come up with. This whole journey has been a long winding road. And now, I can't believe I'm 27 days away from my release. April 12th cant' get here soon enough!!

My website is continuing to pick up traffic. I'm extremely pleased with both my interviews with Erica Lynn and Roxanne D. Howard. Both ladies gave fantastic answers and I had so much fun getting to know them better. I've decided to become an Amazon Affiliate and I have chosen a few books to place in my store. As I review and read more books I'll continue to add to my listed items.

My next few interviews, I would really like to focus on interracial romance authors. I have a few in mind and I'll be reaching to a few to see what type of response I get.

And on a personal note, I am hard at work on my next project. I've finally decided on (or my characters decided for me) that I am working on a series. Still in the paranormal world, and I am loving my progress so far.
